I must say - Tiger surprised and didn't dissapoint. In his long awaited press conference this afternoon, Tiger was not his usual self - not the one we all remember from the pre-Thanksgiving time. But he should get a gold star for giving straight forward and honest answers.
Most people though that he would refuse to answer any questions about his personal life - but he wasn't hiding anything. Of course - there were a few pointed questions, to which he did reply "That's personal" but overall, he did talk about his injuries, the rehab he started and the impact the entire situation had on him and his family.
He assured everyone that he is planning to take a little different approach - mostly to continously show respect for the game he loves so much. When asked what that meant specifically, he spoke about the famous outbursts he has been known to exhibit during matches. But he also pointed out that there is a balance between the negative behaviour and it will show up in his exhibiting the positive one - namely the exhuberant reactions he had when making that crutial shot.
Surprising comments were several on the same note - that winning tournaments means nothing if your family life is in jeopardy. He actually referred to winning as being irrelevant compared to what his actions have done to his family. He spoke openly about the damage he has done to his family, his friends and collegues and several times expressed his gratitude for all the support he received. His biggest regret - missing his son's first birthday. He assured everyone openly that he is going to do everything possible for that not to happen ever again.
He didn't appear to be nervous and said as much, but also admitted that he will be nervous stepping on the first tee on Thursday. But he has Stevie back on the bag and that feels great.
Going forward, he plans to be a better man and for that he needed to realize that he first needed to help himself. He is still in rehab and plans to continue with that, along with meditation, return to Budhism and remembering values his parents - especially his father thought him.
He also understands why some sponsors dropped him and is very grateful to those who stood by him. As far as future sponsors? He wants to prove to them that is a worthwhile investment for them.
And his expectations for this week? With that famous Tiger smile, he said: "I am here to play to win"
One of the most anticipated events in sports
history is slowly unfolding. The return of Tiger Woods the PGA tour - and as
most thought, to compete in the Masters tournament in Augusta,Georgia.
Tiger arrived in Augusta in early afternoon
on Sunday - some say he looked like the reclusive bad boy, wearing dark glasses
and goatee. Not sure why that statement would be made - he has looked like that
lots of times before.
He didn't stop to chat with anyone, but gave
a brief handshake with long-time golf writers Jim McCabe and Doug Ferguson.
First player he talked to was Paul Casey - while he waited for about 5 minutes
for his caddy Steve Williams. When Stevie arrived, Tiger hit balls on the
driving range for about 15 minutes before walking over to the putting green.
Having a few light laughs with Jim Furyk and Jim's dad Mike. Tiger then jumped
into a cart and headed over to the 10th tee to play 9 holes with
long time friend Mark O'Meara. So that was yesterday.
This morning, Tiger arrived at the Augusta
National to play the front nine with Fred Couples. Some reports say that the sparkle
you would normally expect when Tiger shows up wasn't there, that the gallery
following Tiger was kind of quiet and polite but not overly enthusiastic. I'd
say that's a good thing. There were shouts of "Welcome back Tiger" - but apparently
it's like the gallery is rubber-necking, just watching what Tiger will be doing
on the course. And that I would say just shows respect fans have for the best
golfer in the world.
And the world is waiting - for what Tiger has
to say at this afternoon's press conference. Stay tuned....
Get this - he just bought a little
special gift for his fiancee's Mezhgan
Hussainy's 37th birthdaya luxury 1954 Jaguar XK convertible. The price tag? Measly $120,000
plus.
And you think that's all? Naaaah.... Rumour has it that he gives her "little"
things just about every day - lingerie (well - that one makes complete sense),
red roses, Prada bags - Swedish massages for him and her.....
My word of advice to the young lady? Seal the deal and get
hitched ASAP!
Remember the story last December - around Christmas time-
when Brooke Mueller accused Charlie Sheen of assault?
Here is the follow-up: Little miss Brooke was under the
influence at the time and is currently in rehab. And that is a good thing.
Charlie has the arraignment coming up and his show is on the
line - so we hear that he is ready to cop a plea. Rumour has it that he will
plead no contest to a misdemeanour - provided there will be no jail time. He is
also promising that he will agree to probation and take some anger management
classes. Prosecution is apparently not too excited about that deal - but they
are thinking about it and we will see if they will go for it.
The good news for Charlie is the fact that Brooke's friends
are saying that she will definitely not testify against him and that she wants
all this mess to go away and go away fast..
Charlie's arraignment is set for Monday in Aspen and he will
be on the set of the "Two and a Half Men" starting Tuesday to film the last 4
episodes of the season. We hope so - anyway.....
The
doctor responsible for death of Michael Jackson pled not guilty to involuntary
manslaughter, was taken into custody and arraigned on a $75,000 bail.
The
hearing took only 25 minutes with Michael's parents and his siblings watching.
Judge added a condition to the bail - Dr. Murray cannot be in a possession of
prescribe anesthetics - especially not Propofol. Basically the judge made it
clear - Dr. Murray cannot sedate people. He also made Dr. Murray surrender his
passport and ordered him back to court on April 5th.
All
this was after LAPD and the D.A's office got into quite a feud over this case.
LAPD guys were furious because the D.A's office kept them out of the loop when
it came to charging the doctor. The situation got really ugly with the top
levels of both - the LAPD and D.A.'s office getting involved. And of course Dr.
Murray's lawyers got involved and everybody was mad at everybody. But either
way - Dr. Murray was in court and like it or not - he is out on bail.
And all
that doesn't sit well with Joe Jackson - he went on Larry King yesterday and
stated clearly that Michael's death is murder - not a manslaughter.
As far
as we are concerned - the guy is getting off real easy!
Is there a ring on Kim Kardashian's
finger? The rumour had it that Reggie Bush said that if the Saints win the
Super Bowl, there will a be ring! So far, the only thing we know for sure is
that there is a ring on Reggie's finger!
Kim was there of course and even
made Reggie a true home-cooked meal for his "last supper" before the big game! On
the menu was a steak, mashed potatoes and salad. Who knew Kim could cook?
For those of you who are
wondering about Reggie and Kim, or don't know that there was a pretty long
relationship - they met and started dating in 2007 when - according to Kim -
she picked him up at a car wash. Then they went to Chipotles - but it took Reggie a while to make his
move. But Kim liked Reggie a lot so she exercised a bit of well rewarded
patience. Their relationship hit a stumbling block in July, when they both
accused each other of cheating. But they re-united in September and made a
point of putting their relationship first .
Kim does have a lot going on -
she launched her first fragrance, is writing a book, working on their candle
line, planning a skin care line... tons of activities and she is doing a good
job of promoting all of them!
But - she also made it clear that
she would relocate to New Orleans without a second thought so we will see if
Reggie does pop the question any time soon now!
There
is more and more trouble in the works for Dr. Conrad Murray. He was supposed to
be in a Las Vegas court, didn't show up and lost his case with Digirad Imaging
Solutions. He owes them $131,848 for services rendered to his medical practice.
Dr. Murray is in L.A. waiting to surrender on involuntary manslaughter charges
in the death of Michael Jackson - so he ignored the Vegas court date. We never
claimed the guy was smart!
Dr.
Murray's lawyer, J.Michael Flanagan stated that there are no plans to for Dr.
Murray to surrender so what he should have done is let the good doctor know
that!
The
entire legal team that Dr. Murray has is working away talking to the D.A.'s
office. Criminal charges have been filed and now that latest is that Dr. Murray
will arraigned and formerly charged with involuntary manslaughter. He is to
turn himself in Friday morning, get booked and then be taken to Airport Court
in L.A. to have a visit with the judge at 1:30 pm.
And I
guess it will be a good idea for him to show up, but we will see....
Now we know that the popular Jersey Shore will be back for
season 2 - after some hard negotiations the cast had with MTV. The original
deadline has now passed - MTV has told everyone that if they don't accept
$10,000 signing bonus and $5,000 per episode, they will be replaced. The cast
laughed at the offer and decided to stand united holding out for an undisclosed
price. Then MTV increased the offer to $10,000 per episode (there are 12
episodes in a season) and reported that they already have replacements for
those who choose not to accept the offer.
After all the guessing and fan tension, announcement was
made on January 30th and the entire gang will be back for Season 2.
Pauly D, The Situation, Snooki, J-WOWW, Sammi, Ronni and Vinny will return in
the summer but get this: Not to New Jersey! The show wants to escape the cold
Northeast and reach a new destination. And we are assuming that each cast
member will be getting the $10,000 per episode, since that is what was reported
as the last figure. The cast took the same approach that the cast of "Friends"
took way back when - everybody gets the same or nobody does the show.
Where are they moving to? Stay tuned for that
important announcement!
Are they or are they not? Splitting
that is. This has been a rumour and a question for quite a while now. The
latest is that they did split - but it really depends on who you are listening
to. It could just be that they do want to be in the news. But the fact is that
they are spending lot of time separately. And that could be a beginning of a
split.
There are sources - some called
close sources - that are making statements on this. According to some, the
relationship has been pretty loveless for the last year. They are barely
together and it appears that they want different things from life. The only
thing they have in common are the kids.
Some British tabloids have
reported the split with a deal of 205 million pounds - but you do have consider
where it is coming from.
I would say that the best thing
here is to wait for either Brad or Angelina to give a statement - we will be
watching for it and keep you posted!
Former Olympic Champion Nancy Kerrigan is
dealing with horrible situation these days. Her father is dead and her brother
arrested in connection with an incident that took place in her childhood home.
Emergency crews were called to the residence on Sunday and took Nancy's father,
Daniel Kerrigan, who was unresponsive and unconscious, to the hospital, where
he was pronounced dead.
Here is where the terrible situation gets
worse - the man arrested in the incident is Nancy's 45-year old brother Mark Kerrigan. He told the police that there
was a struggle between him and his father in the kitchen. Details are not
known, but Mark was arrested and charged with assault and battery. He appeared
in court today and tearfully pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $10,000.
Nancy's mother gave an interview to the Boston
Herald and stated that her husband had a massive heart attack that happened
when Mark started fighting with him over the use of the telephone. And there was
also mentioned the fact that Mark was intoxicated at the time.
Nancy, who has 3 children and lives a short
distance of only about 10 minute drive from the home, has not given any
comments at this time.
Reporters
from all over the world have been trying to spot Tiger Woods just about
anywhere - from Africa to New York, to Arizona to the Bahamas. And the guesses
and gossip is flying in all directions.
The
latest - there is a picture that everyone is talking about now - taken at the
Pine Grove Behaviour Health and Addiction Services facility in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi, where the Gentle Path sexual addiction program is conducted. This
information is coming from the National Enquirer - so let's take that with the
grain of salt!
I am
just wondering right away - why would he be walking in or out of the gate of
this facility - if he is hiding from the public eye, he would be in a vehicle
with tinted dark windows, no?
If the photos are authentic, that
would make them the first since November 21 pictures of Tiger at a Stanford-Cal
football game where he was inducted into Stanford's Sports Hall of Fame. And
then - as we all know - only 6 days later he crashed his SUV into a tree
outside of his home in Florida and set off a stunning chain of events.
He is now taking an indefinite
break from professional golf and the rumour is that he will be returning for
the Tavistock cup in March - let's hope so!
